X-Fi Logo
Our good friends at
Clear Computer Cases, (C3), the people who make the clear case like that used in
Orac³ did some work for us and laser-cut and etched some logos. The actual logo designs were supplied by Creative themselves and are trademark accurate.
For the main X-Fi logo, I actually combined two pieces of laser work: an “X-Fi Extreme Fidelity” badge etched in UV reactive Perspex, and a set of X-Fi letters which had been laser-cut and had a brushed aluminium surface. The cut letters were self-adhesive and were placed on top of the UV logo. The "X-Fi" lettering of both pieces of work had been made from the same template and so were the same size.
You can see the 3D effect of the logo in the two pictures below.
I wanted to light the logo using a 5mm UV LED so a 5mm hole was drilled into the badge from behind to accept the LED.
The LED was embedded just enough so that the actual lighting element was inside the logo badge.
A quick test to see how the effect looked proved to be very positive. The UV acrylic turned out to be very dynamic. Not that you can really tell from the pictures. Just so you know, I tried the same thing using a normal blue LED and the effect was not nearly as good. The UV permeates throughout the entire badge.
Almost done…
